The ChromaFlex optical transport platform is an ITU-T compliant platform.
ATX’s ChromaFlex platform and its application specific modules have been designed for headend and major hub site applications where performance, versatility and space efficiency are of the highest importance.
The ChromaFlex platform is a mid-plane design with blind mate connectors, 2RU passive chassis with support for redundant power supplies, eight application specific modules, and remote monitoring and control of all important operating parameters.
The wide breadth of application modules includes the high performance Chromadigm DWDM transmitter, 1310nm and DWDM directly modulated transmitters, optical amplifiers, return path receivers, optical de-stackers, and optical and RF switches.
ChromaFlex platform is supported by the TranScend and I-HUB platforms to provide the highest performance, highest capacity, and highly reliable optical network solutions with a very cost-effective capital investment.
ChromaFlex supports up to 4 ITU wavelengths in a single rack unit (RU) with optical output powers ranging from +4dBm to +18dBm.
The ChromaFlex has a shared broadcast RF input and up to 4 unique QAM only RF inputs dedicated to each ITU transmitter. All the RF ports are 1.2 GHz capable, ready for DOCSIS 3.1, allowing the operator the flexibility to decide the loading on the broadcast and narrowcast ports.
Distance Independent Performance
ATX’s patent-pending technology allows for consistent node performance and is not based on specific link distances. This allows for a universal deployment as long as the optical input power is designed to the node manufacturer’s recommended input range.
Highest OMI in the Industry
ATX’s transmitters boast a higher OMI (Optical Modulation Index) than the industry standard, which ensures a higher performance at a lower optical power. By utilising lower optical power, Chromadigm reduces costs and improves reach while allowing more wavelengths to be launched in existing fibre.
Clipping Mitigation Circuitry
Another innovation built into each Chromadigm is a circuit that minimises laser clipping. This allows for higher OMI on the laser and it results in the industry’s highest QAM specification: 38 MER and BER < 1E-09. As the HFC cable network loading migrates to more QAM transport, Chromadigm will mitigate blocking and tiling of QAM signals caused by laser clipping as verified by a Tier 1 MSO using node health statistics on ATX links.
