New voice in vocational training

New voice in vocational training
de Graaf and Siu sign their AgreementC-COR Broadband and GippsTAFE identified and closed a gap in the vocational training needs for the Australian cable industry.

The initiative aims to improve the skills of technicians.

It fills a recognised gap in continuing skills development for the technicians and contractors in the telecommunications industry. It is being brought to life through a collaborative relationship with GippsTAFE and C-COR Broadband.

Ms Maxine de Graaf, Manager Chadstone Campus, GippsTAFE and Keith Siu, Director and CFO, C-COR Broadband formally confirmed the collaborative relationship in February. “We are very pleased with the relationship because the initiative fills the void for the ongoing development and delivery of vocational training for communications contractors working on the cable networks” said Maxine. “It means that the contractors and telecommunications carriers can get their employees trained and certified by a recognised training body. It is an excellent development to ensure that these critical network infrastructures are maintained and repaired to a high level”.

GippsTAFE has a purpose built Energy & Telecommunications Training facility in Chadstone, Victoria. The facility was originally the site for training for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria before being acquired by GippsTAFE. Since then it has expanded with a current proposal for a major new multi-million training facility on the site.
