DEMAND GROWING FOR IPv6 TOOLS
Melbourne-based integration specialist C-COR Broadband has reported a growing interest in tools to manage the runout of IPv4 addresses as well transition to newer IPv6 assignments.
According to C-COR MD John Goddard, it was recently successful in a contract with a leading Australian service provider to deliver Incognito's IP Address Managment suite. The contract was awarded after a competitive tendering process.
Goddard said that from an operator's perspective, the ability to report IPv6 and IPv6 addresses to APNIC
via special reports was a key selection criteria. He said the Incognito tools gave operators clear access
to their IP address usage.
Recently, APNIC warned that the limited number of addresses each operator would be able to access would not
be sufficient to maintain current regional development rates with IPv4 alone. It recommends that Asia-Pacific region will have to be the leader in deployments to overcome the IPv4 address space shortage.
